Role Brief:

The Lead GP, Virtual Primary Care is the senior clinical and operational leader for Spectrum.Life's regulated Virtual Primary Care service. 
This is a full-time leadership position responsible for the clinical leadership, operational management, governance, regulatory compliance and strategic development of the service. 
The post holder reports directly to the Chief Clinical Officer and forms part of the senior clinical leadership team.

Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility for the safe, effective and compliant delivery of Spectrum.Life's regulated Virtual Primary Care services including: 
  • 24-hour, 7-day Virtual Primary Care service
  • General Practice consultations
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner consultations
  • Clinical triage within the regulated service
  • Psychiatry consultation service delivered under the registered service
  • Psychiatric assessment,diagnosisand management
  • Prescribing of non-controlled prescription medication undertaken within the psychiatry consultation pathway
  • Future regulated clinical services incorporated into the Virtual Primary Care model
Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership 

Provide overall clinical leadership for Virtual Primary Care by: 
  • Leading the clinical strategy for the service.
  • Ensuring delivery of safe,effectiveand evidence-based care.
  • Developing new clinical pathways.
  • Supporting innovation and service transformation.
  • Leading clinical decision making across the service.
  • Providingexpert clinical advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting future growth and mobilisation activities.
Operational Leadership 

Hold overall operational responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the service including: 
  • Clinical operations.
  • Workforce planning.
  • Capacity planning.
  • Clinical rotas.
  • Service performance.
  • Operational KPIs.
  • Workforce productivity.
  • Access standards.
  • Escalation management.
  • Service resilience.
  • Mobilisation of new services.
  • Continuous operational improvement.

Clinical Governance
 
Provide executive oversight of: 
  • Clinical governance.
  • Patient safety.
  • Clinical quality.
  • Clinical effectiveness.
  • Clinical audit.
  • Consultation audit.
  • Prescribing governance.
  • Medicines management.
  • Clinical risk.
  • Incident management.
  • Serious event reviews.
  • Safeguarding.
  • Complaints.
  • Learning from incidents.
  • DCB clinical safety.
  • Clinical policies and procedures.
  • Regulatory compliance. 

Workforce Leadership 

Professional leadership for: 
  • General Practitioners.

  • Other clinicians working within Virtual Primary Care.

Provide senior clinical leadership for client relationships including: 
  • Clinical assurance.

  • Supporting commercial growth.
 
Financial Responsibility
 
Responsible for the efficient operational management of the service including: 
  • Workforce utilisation.

  • Delivery of contractual KPIs.
  • Safe growth.
 
Senior Leadership

 
Member of the Clinical Leadership Team.

Decision Making Authority 

Authority to: 
  • Lead all clinical and operational decisions relating to Virtual Primary Care.
  • Approve clinical pathways.
  • Implement service improvements.
  • Lead governance initiatives.
  • Escalate strategic risks directly to the Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Make operational decisions relating to regulated services.
Clinical accountability remains with the Chief Clinical Officer. 

Requirements:

  • Medical degree with full registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  •  Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in primary care.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, preferably within digital health or telemedicine services.
  •  Significant experience working in digital primary care or remote healthcare environments.
  •  Experience supervising and collaborating with GP, allied health clinicians and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) in a clinical environment and remote clinical environment.
  •  Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, clinical governance, and quality standards.
  •  Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage clinical operations effectively.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  •  A forward thinking mindset with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance patient care.

Desirable:

  • Experience with healthcare IT systems and digital health platforms.
  • Background in service transformation or organisational change management.
  • Knowledge of NICE guidelines and best practice in primary care delivery.
